Update TaskForce AI- Active in Protection and Innovation

From exploring new registration options for AI-assisted works to engaging in discussions in Brussels about stricter regulations, we remain actively involved.

With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool in music creation, BumaStemra now offers its members the possibility to properly register works that involve AI input. Learn more about how to register (partially) AI-generated works via MijnBumaStemra here.
BumaStemra Visits Brussels to Advocate for Stricter AI Regulations on Music Use
Together with none other than DJ Reinier Zonneveld, we headed to Brussels! Reinier joined BumaStemra in discussions with Members of the European Parliament Reinier van Lanschot, Brigitte van den Berg, and Bart Groothuis about the opportunities AI offers in the music industry—and the necessary steps to ensure fair compensation for creators when their work is used to train AI models.
The visit concluded with an impressive demo by Reinier, showcasing how he uses AI as an artist and highlighting the importance of human creativity.
A day full of insights and important conversations, during which we made it very clear that strong regulation is essential. AI offers opportunities, but it should never come at the expense of our music creators! Read the Dutch NOS article here.
Creators’ rights need stronger protection — in the Netherlands, across Europe, and beyond!

The impact of AI is significant. We’re looking for the right balance—embracing the opportunities AI brings, but under fair conditions. There are different opinions on how BumaStemra should approach this topic. With tens of thousands of members and such an important issue at stake, that’s completely understandable. That’s why we really want to hear your voice!
