Why is the payment ‘provisional’?

Due to the transition to our new IT system, some work registrations submitted since 1 January 2025 have not yet been fully linked.

Normally, we link different registrations of the same work together. We can then distribute the money fairly between all rightsholders. Currently, this process has not been automated.

What does this mean for me?

You may temporarily receive too much or too little money.

Example

  • An author registers a work on 1 January 2025.
  • A publisher registers the same work on 10 January 2025.
  • These registrations are not yet linked to each other.
  • We pay out on the basis of the first registration.

The author will temporarily receive 100% of the money. The publisher’s share has not yet been accounted for. Once the registrations have been linked, this can be corrected.

What are we doing now?
We are working on linking all work registrations. Once this is complete, we will review the differences between the provisional and final payments. We can then decide how to address this. We will inform all relevant rightsholders of this.
