Do I have to pay for music at my party?

When you’re organising a wedding, birthday or company party, it’s important to have the right beats. But is that allowed? In general, the following rule applies – you can play music at a party if you have permission to do so. To get permission you have to pay a fee to BumaStemra.

One exception to this rule is for parties where no entrance fee is charged and where the guests are family and friends or have a connection to each other. In this case, you don’t need permission to play music. But note that this exception only applies if all guests have a (personal) connection.

If you want to play live music or invite a DJ to your party, then you will need to contact BumaStemra.
