Using music during events
Regardless of the type of event you’re organizing, music is vital. It sets the atmosphere and cultivates a social vibe. If you plan to include music in your event, obtaining a license is a necessary step. It’s important to clarify that this license is separate from the payments made to artists for their performances at your event.

How much does it cost?
The tariff is based on ticket sales and artist fees/buy-out fees. Ticket sales are the determining factor, unless the total amount paid to artists is higher. We charge a percentage of this amount, which is usually 7%. If no entrance fee is charged and the artists perform (almost) free of charge, we charge a minimum fee based on floor area.
When you have already paid the Buma contribution to the booking agency, we will deduct this advance from your licensing fee.
Avoid additional costs
Submit your licence request to Buma on time to avoid additional costs. The longer you leave it to apply for a licence, the higher the percentage. No additional fees will be charged up to one month after the event. If you submit a request between one and two months after the end of the event, you pay a 10% surcharge. Every two months thereafter, you pay 5% more, up to a maximum surcharge of 20%.
