You’re a music creator. If your music is used—for example, on the radio, in a bar, or on Spotify—we make sure you get paid for it.

What we do for you

We track where your music is played and secure licences with everyone who uses your music commercially — such as Spotify and YouTube, radio and television, hospitality venues, festivals, shops and other business spaces. That’s how we make sure you receive fair compensation for the use of your music, in the Netherlands and abroad.

We receive data about how music is used in all these places and match it to your works using state-of-the-art technology. This allows us to see where and when your music is used and ensure you get paid for it.

All you need to do is become a member and register your music. We’ll take care of the rest.

Understanding your music and income

MijnBumaStemra is your personal space to see how your music is performing. This gives you an overview of your income, as well as an insight into your online streams and radio plays. And with the help of our analytics, you can easily see where in the world your songs are popular.

Joining is a good idea if…

You’re a composer, songwriter or producer from the Netherlands or abroad
You create music as an individual. It’s not possible to join as a band or group

Often played live, by yourself or other artists
Regularly played on the radio or TV
Released by a record label on CD, DVD or vinyl
Streamed more than 200,000 times a year on paid streaming services

Are you a performer besides being a music maker?

Then it’s important to also register with Sena. Sena ensures that you receive compensation when you perform your music.

What are the costs?

Starting January 1, 2025, new members will receive their first year of membership completely free. From the second year onwards, the contribution is €63.55. However, we annually supplement members’ royalty earnings with a so-called basic allowance. This allowance ensures that members receive an amount that exceeds the yearly contribution by a few euros.

Join as a publisher

You can also join BumaStemra as a music publisher – along with more than 1,500 other publishers. As a music publisher, you work with songs and their copyrights and make sure that music creators earn as much as possible from their music. BumaStemra helps you monitor music use and collect royalties for your music creators’ music.

Joining is a good idea if…

You’re a publisher and represent the rights of songwriters. Record labels and performers are represented by Sena
The songs you represent are regularly broadcast, performed live or commercially released
You want us to exploit your share of these songs
