New legislation: submit your Citizen Service Number (BSN) through MijnBumaStemra

Composers and authors affiliated to BumaStemra have received notice from BumaStemra about new legislation in the submission of data to the tax authorities. This new legislation requires BumaStemra to pass on Citizen Service Numbers (BSN) to the tax authorities by January 31, 2023 at the latest.
To comply with this obligation, we require the Citizen Service Numbers (BSN) of our affiliated composers and authors. You can submit your BSN through the secure MijnBumaStemra account.
Legal Obligation
BumaStemra is under a legal obligation to provide accurate and complete Citizen Service Numbers (BSN) of affiliated composers and lyricists to the Tax Authorities. Failure to do so may result in fines imposed by the tax authorities. BumaStemra reserves the right to suspend payments and/or pass on imposed fines to members who have not provided, or have provided incorrect, information. BumaStemra cannot verify the accuracy of the information you provide; you are solely responsible for this.
If you are unsure about your tax liability, check the conditions here (in Dutch). If you are not liable for taxes in the Netherlands, you must indicate this in ‘My details’ on MijnBumaStemra.

The Tax Authorities require information to properly levy taxes and to carry out their supervisory tasks effectively. The law includes an obligation for record-keeping entities, including BumaStemra, to cooperate in obtaining data and information for the taxation of third parties.
The obligation to provide such data is commonly referred to as disclosure.
BumaStemra will provide the Citizen Service Numbers (personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation) to the Tax Authorities to comply with the information disclosure obligation under the General State Taxes Act.
